Insider Sports Marketing offers sponsorship consultation, negotiation and implementation to any size business looking to utilize sports in its marketing efforts. Similarly, Insider Sports Marketing offers teams and/or leagues sales consulting and sponsorship sales techniques for attracting new sponsors and renewing them year after year. Insider Sports Marketing will also provide unique perspectives and proven methods for increasing sponsorship revenue and NTR (non-traditional)revenue – utilizing new and expanded sponsorship categories, inventory and special events.

The Founder

The founder of Insider Sports Marketing, Chip Hutchinson, has an extensive background of sports marketing experience involving everything from sales to event management to special events and promotions – and one thing has remained constant in each of these steps along the way – he has been involved in sports sponsorships.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism (Advertising Sequence) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Hutchinson interned at Advantage International (now Octagon Sports Marketing) in Washington, D.C. and worked on several LPGA events, including the Mazda LPGA Championship in Bethesda, Maryland. He directed a ten (10) person team of ticket sales representatives and was involved in sponsorship service and contract fulfillment, as well as event management for both the LPGA Championship and the JAL Big Apple Classic.

Hutchinson then moved to Greenville, North Carolina to become a Graduate Assistant within the East Carolina University Athletic Marketing Department and to obtain a Master’s of Sports Administration. Upon completion of his Master’s Degree, he became the Assistant Marketing Director within the Athletic Department and remained in that position for three (3) years. While at ECU, Hutchinson was involved in both the sponsorship sales and sports marketing efforts for all nineteen (19) Division I sports at the university and executed all of the game day responsibilities associated with these sponsorship packages.

In January of 1997, he was able to move “home” and work with the Durham Bulls Baseball Club as a Sponsorship Sales Account Executive under former Bulls’ Sales Manager and current National Marketing Director of Minor League Baseball, Rod Meadows. In 2000, he was promoted to Sales Manager of Special Events and began to develop non-traditional revenue events for the Durham Bulls Athletic Park while maintaining his duties as a sales representative. After six (6) successful sales seasons, Hutchinson was promoted to Director of Corporate Sales, and he has taken the Sponsorship Department to new heights – acheiving record sales each season and improving the net revenue by nearly 20% in fewer than three (3) years.
