Canes, St. Lawrence Homes Ribbon Cutting Wednesday

57 finalists, Rutherford, Laviolette and players will be on hand

RALEIGH, NC-Curt Johnson, Director of Marketing for the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the ribbon-cutting celebration for the house that will be given away as a part of the 'Canes 10th Anniversary Season Home & Prize Giveaway presented by St. Lawrence Homes will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Hurricanes President and General Manager Jim Rutherford, Head Coach Peter Laviolette, Hurricanes players Eric Staal, Ray Whitney, Cam Ward and Cory Stillman, the Storm Squad and other team representatives, including mascot Stormy, will join 57 finalists and their guests at the home site in Wake Forest at 2 p.m.

At the ribbon-cutting event, finalists will take a tour of the newly constructed home, enjoy refreshments and take pictures with Rutherford, Laviolette, Staal, Whitney, Ward, Stillman and St. Lawrence Homes President Bob Ohmann. The 3,137-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-bathroom home has been constructed over the course of the season thus far, and more than 25,000 unique users have entered the contest, accounting for more than 225,000 entries.

The home site is located at Litchborough Way, Lot 9, in the Northampton subdivision of Wake Forest. Those attending, and traveling from Raleigh, should follow U.S. 1 North/Capital Blvd. to N.C. Hwy 98 Bypass East, turn right on Jones Dairy Farm Road and turn right into the Northampton subdivision. When you see the big brick entrance, make the first right to the building site.

Throughout the 2007-08 season, the Hurricanes have conducted the 'Canes 10th Anniversary Season Home & Prize Giveaway which has, as its grand prize, a new home. In addition to the house, more than 140 individual prizes, including game tickets, autographed items, merchandise and items from Hurricanes sponsors are being awarded during the promotion, which began Oct. 3. The winner of the grand prize will be determined at a drawing during the Hurricanes' final regular-season game on April 4.
